AEON School

Available worldwide with a Wi-Fi connection, AEON School is deliberately designed to promote deep, innovative learning with exceptional flexibility. With its interdisciplinary, project-based curriculum tailored for synchronous and asynchronous learning, a proprietary learning platform, and an outstanding collaborative global faculty, AEON is setting a new benchmark in online education. Our students come from over 40 countries, contributing their diverse cultural and geographical backgrounds and global mobility to their daily learning experience. From early childhood through 12th grade, our students learn online to thrive offline, applying their knowledge to their local contexts around the globe. At AEON, students are encouraged to take ownership of their education from a young age and cultivate the critical and creative thinking skills required to comprehend and address global-scale challenges.

The Opportunity

Math teachers at AEON ensure that students engage with mathematicians every day. In grades 6-12, AEON adopts a problem-based mathematics pedagogy and curriculum. Students maintain a weekly math notebook in which they work on solutions, ask questions, receive feedback, iterate, and reflect on mistakes to gradually master mathematical concepts. Teachers facilitate discussions during scheduled synchronous sessions and tutorials, inspiring students to develop a deeper understanding of mathematics and cultivate their mathematical voice. Built on a strong foundation, AEON's comprehensive math program acts as a stepping stone to Calculus. Our calculus curriculum enhances problem-solving skills and provides students with the tools to tackle advanced mathematical topics with precision and innovative thinking.

What You Will Do

  • You will serve as lead instructor for approximately 20 Upper Division students (grades 10-12) in time zones across the Americas; additional students may join throughout the academic year
  • Ensure students achieve key learning outcomes of a problem-based, integrated calculus curriculum.
  • Lead weekly schedule synchronous and one-on-one tutoring sessions, coach/facilitate office hour sessions, and provide asynchronous feedback, primarily via our digital math notebooks.
  • Utilize all resources available to encourage the success of each student by considering engagement with the coursework, quality of contribution during synchronous touchpoints, and preparation of individual work.
  • Co-construct with students an environment that establishes high standards, fosters a sense of belonging, and upholds our values of welcome, safety, and respect.
  • Collaborate with other faculty and deans; practice cultural competence in student and adult spaces.
  • Inspire trust and confidence among families through regular, proactive communication.

  • Display good judgment and sensibility
  • Proactively seek honest feedback from others, receive critical feedback well, and apply learnings from feedback to improve your own craft
  • Ability to set priorities in a changing environment, comfort with change, and experience approaching novel situations with curiosity and a can-do mindset.
  • Experience using technology to communicate, collaborate with colleagues, and enhance instruction. Proficiency in delivering instruction via multiple platforms is required. (Examples: Google Suite, Desmos, Apple operating systems, Zoom.)
